Liking you was knowing deep down it’d never last.
Liking you was running through carpeted hallways laughing at our pranks.
Liking you was linked to all these pretty memories that, it almost felt like it’ll last forever.
Liking you was sharing embarrassing pictures and stories.
Liking you was knowing neither of us would take it further than being best friends for some reason, like we were “too busy”.
Liking you was texting you during Ganpati while I was half asleep since the guests had just left and you were watching some dubbed Tamil movie and laughing away.
Liking you was seeing you take my earphones and untangle them for me knowing that the patience it took was far too much for you to do it for anyone.
Liking you was giddily running around in comic con using the crowd as a reason for holding unto your bag strap the entire time.
Liking you was buying matching pendants and keeping them safely, close to our hearts.
Liking you was awkwardly giving you and your friends my tiffin, that you hungry idiots really finished and running away.
Liking you was grinning at the mention of your name and correcting everyone because they always spelt your name wrong.
Liking you was going red and sliding down the bench in embarrassment when my friends teased me.
Liking you was fun; I’m glad I did.
Liking you was knowing that this would stop eventually.
You’d leave school; you’d be too busy to keep in touch. But liking you was also not caring about this and enjoying whatever this was while it lasted.
Liking you was making stupid pacts to talk to each other even if our crushes went away and we did for over two years, we did; now I don’t know if it’s all gone.
But the pacts still remain in my little yellow book waiting for someone to go through it again and giggle.
